Monthly meeting @ 7pm St Joseph Church Guadalupe Hall Agenda: N.H.C.A. will be welcoming all residents from the Hawthorne airport area. Thanks for all the positive feedback! _March 6th 2012
We would like to thank everyone who attended the N.H.C.A. meeting last night and participated in the discussion about the questionable plans to re-zone Imperial Hwy. This was some of the best group participation and discussion we have had. We are all united in the opinion that this DOES NOT seem to be in the best interest of Our city or our neighborhood and I believe we are entitled to answers. Please continue to collect your signatures on the petitions and be ready for our show of presence at the City Council when this goes to discussion/vote. **Special thanks To the Ramona, Bodger Park and Holly Park residents for your attendance and support last night!!!***** _Neighborhood Organizations -

Birthplace of a Musical Legend.... Capitol Records celebrated the 40th anniversary of the formation of the Beach Boys with the release of "Hawthorne, CA - Birthplace of a Musical Legacy." Named after the legendary group's hometown, the two-disc collection contains rare studio sessions, rehearsal tapes, and commentary about the Beach Boys' incomparable recording career. Included are taped in-studio conversations dating back to the origins of the group. The 57-track "Hawthorne, CA - Birthplace of a Musical Legacy" opens with an introduction of the Beach Boys' first hit "Surfin' ", followed by a 1961 rehearsal recorded where it all began: at 3701 W. 119th Street, Hawthorne, home of brothers Brian, Carl and Dennis Wilson. Included are rehearsals of such Beach Boys classis as the #1 "Good Vibrations," a demo for "Surfin' USA," radio programs a guest appearance by Jan and Dean's Dean Torrance on "Barbara Ann," a live recording of "Shut Down" and an unreleased Dennis Wilson track, "A Time to Live in Dreams." Also featured are never released version of "Little Girl," "Time to Get Alone" and "Break Away." Other rare cuts include a cappella version of "Kiss Me Baby," and "Forever," and a stereo single version of "Cotton Fields (The Cotton Song)." "Two years ago Capitol Records embarked on a major initiative to digitally remaster and reissue all of the Beach Boys' legendary catalog of recordings for Capitol and their own Brother Records label. There was so much extra recorded material in the vaults that it was decided to release a collection of the very best items," said Paul Atkinson, VP Catalog A&R Capitol Records. "It is a "must-have" item for all Beach Boys fans worldwide, and a fascinating glimpse into the creative process behind many of their most beloved songs. Since their beginnings in Hawthorne, California, The Beach Boys have amassed a collection of 22 gold, five platinum and three mutli-platinum albums. They scored their first top 20 hit "Surfin' Safari," in 1962. Their #1 hits include "I Get Around," "Help Me Rhonda" and the precedent setting "Good Vibrations." Among their top 10 hits are "Surfin'' USA," "Surfer Girl," "Fun Fun Fun," "Be True to Your School" and "California Girls." In 2001, the Beach Boys were honored by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences with a Lifetime Achievement Award, and Brian Wilson was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame by Sir Paul McCartney.
